Corona Virus Update

To All Club Members:

Covid 19 Update 5/22

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we would like to thank all of current and former military families for their service and sacrifice.

It has been a long couple of months, and I know everyone is eager to move forward with their plans for the summer.  As the nation begins to reopen and move into a direction or normalcy, we are looking forward to restarting soccer.  Across the country, youth sports are seeking the proper balance of safety and caution with return to regular play as soon as appropriate.  We are doing the same and are looking at a phased approach to a safe return to play for all of our players and their families.

All of our Return to Play dates are subject to change as circumstances warrant but we do have the following plan in place at this time.  A complete list of Return to Play Guidelines and protocols will follow shortly.

Phase I – now through May 31

Small Group Skills Training is allowed (1-4 players at a time).

Phase II – June 1 through June 30

Team Skills Training is allowed with no more than 10 players in a group with a coach.

Phase III – July 1 through July 26

Team Skills Training including limited small-sided play is allowed.

Phase IV – July 27 through Fall

Team Training is allowed per national association guidelines.

Beginning on June 1, all academy and U13 and U14 teams will return to Spring training.  These teams were unable to complete their Spring seasons and there has been a strong sentiment among many parents and coaches to continue with the missed training.  We will look at the possibilities of scheduling friendly contests as well if the circumstances allow it and other clubs are interested.  Expected training to cover six weeks.  Coaches are making plans now for scheduling practice days and times.  Coaches, players and parents will follow RTP Guidelines.

Beginning on June 13 and continuing the following week through June 18, we will host tryouts for all age groups.  There will be no walkup tryout registration, all players wishing to tryout must pre-register for tryouts.  Deadline for tryout registration is June 11.  RTP Guidelines will be posted and enforced during tryouts.

Registration for all players selected to 2020-21 teams will begin June 22.  Team lists will be posted online prior to registration.  Once all registration is complete, uniform ordering will begin.

We plan to offer limited summer camp programs for all ages beginning in July.  All programs will be dependent on current circumstances and will follow appropriate guidelines.

The club will begin play for the first time this Fall as a member of the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association.  Our current leagues, SCCL East and CPL, have seized operations at this time.  We have looked at various possible league opportunities and feel SCYSA will off our players and families the best competitive environment and most convenient travel scenarios as we navigate these uncertain times.  Both our academy teams and our select teams will play under the SCYSA umbrella in 2020-21.

I would like to thank all of the members for your dedication to the club and your patience as we continue to navigate these times.  Please be sure to review and follow all Return to Play Guidelines, as they are released, so we can all provide the safest environment possible for our players and families.

Thank you,

Tom Norton
