Coach Code of Conduct

At Augusta Arsenal, coaches are the primary drivers of the Arsenal experience. The way our coaches lead, communicate, and represent the club sets the standard for The Arsenal Way — consistency, development-focused training, and accountability across every team and age group.


Coach Expectations


All coaches are expected to:

  • Deliver a consistent Arsenal experience across all teams and age groups, aligned with club standards
  • Prioritize long-term player development over short-term results
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and proactively with players and families
  • Model accountability, effort, and respect at all times
  • Remain open to feedback and committed to their own growth as a coach
  • Represent Augusta Arsenal with professionalism at all events and in the community



Commitment & Responsibility


  • Plan and lead organized, purposeful trainings and games
  • Communicate schedule changes, absences, and logistics in a timely manner
  • Partner effectively with team managers, program directors, and club leadership
  • Use club-approved communication platforms (Byga) for team communication
  • Maintain required certifications and attend club coaches meetings



Game & Training Behavior


  • Maintain professional sideline behavior at all times
  • Coaches address referees — parents and players should not
  • Model composure and control emotions during competition
  • Deliver instruction and feedback constructively, never through negative or demeaning language
  • Provide playing time consistent with the program's level and development philosophy



Off-Field Conduct


  • Conduct yourself in a way that reflects positively on Augusta Arsenal at all times
  • Use social media and public communication responsibly
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with players and families
  • Avoid behavior that could be perceived as favoritism, retaliation, or unprofessional conduct



Communication Standards

  • Use email for formal or sensitive communication
  • Avoid addressing conflicts in group chats or in front of players and parents
  • Allow a 24–48 hour cooling-off period before responding to emotional concerns
  • Escalate serious concerns to the appropriate Program Director and/or Executive Director


Prohibited Behavior


The following will not be tolerated:

  • Abusive, threatening, or disrespectful language or behavior toward players, parents, officials, or staff
  • Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
  • Physical discipline or inappropriate physical contact with players
  • Inappropriate sharing of player or family information
  • Use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco while coaching or supervising players at club events
  • Repeated failure to follow club standards, communication protocols, or league rules



Accountability


Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may subject a coach to disciplinary action at the club's discretion, which may include, but is not limited to:

  1. Verbal warning by the Director of Coaching, Program Director, or Executive Director
  2. Written warning kept on file by AASC
  3. Required coaching plan or additional training and support
  4. Suspension from coaching duties, games, or club events
  5. Removal from coaching role, at AASC's discretion
