Player Pathways

A Clear Pathway for Player Development

Augusta Arsenal provides a structured development pathway designed to support players at every stage of their journey. From a player’s first introduction to the game through high-level national competition, our programs are built to develop technical ability, game understanding, and confidence over time.

Players progress through the pathway as they grow, with opportunities to compete at increasingly challenging levels. For highly competitive players, Augusta Arsenal offers elite pathways through the National Academy League (NAL) for boys and the Development Player League (DPL) for girls.

Boys Pathway

The Augusta Arsenal boys pathway begins with MLS GO, where young players are introduced to soccer in a fun and supportive environment focused on learning the game and building confidence.

Players then move into the Academy program (U8–U12), where the emphasis is on technical development, ball mastery, and small-sided play that maximizes touches and decision-making.

As players grow older, they progress into the Select program (U13–U19), competing in regional leagues and tournaments while continuing to develop tactically and technically.

Augusta Arsenal’s top boys teams compete in the National Academy League (NAL), a national platform that is part of the broader MLS NEXT pathway, providing high-level competition and exposure.

Additional development opportunities may include participation in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), Atlanta United Futures, and the club’s UPSL semi-professional team for older players.

Girls Pathway

The Augusta Arsenal girls pathway also begins with MLS GO, where players are introduced to soccer through local in-house play focused on enjoyment and foundational skill development.

Players then progress into the Academy program (U8–U12), where training focuses on technical development, confidence on the ball, and understanding the game through small-sided play.

From there, players advance into Select teams (U13–U19), competing in regional leagues and tournaments while continuing to refine their skills.

This structure allows players to develop in a competitive environment while preparing for opportunities at higher levels of the game.

Development First

At Augusta Arsenal, the focus of the pathway is long-term player development. Each stage of the program is designed to build on the previous one, helping players grow technically, tactically, and mentally.

Our coaching staff emphasizes:

  • Technical mastery and confidence on the ball
  • Decision-making and understanding the game
  • Age-appropriate training environments
  • A competitive but constructive culture
  • Long-term growth rather than short-term results

This approach prepares players not only to compete at higher levels of youth soccer, but also to continue their development into high school, college, and beyond.
